Blog every day in May: mega ridiculous don't know why I'm bothering catch up

A moment in my day

A most embarrassing moment
When I was in year 11 I went to Japan with a bunch of other girls from various schools in our netball association. We were on a tour to spread the netball gospel. The accommodation was from the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, it was an expansive cold mass of concrete and overall dilapidation. The toilets in particular.

Without a bowl of cereal in sight, nor fresh orange juice, my little north shore school girl tummy was barely adjusting to the sudden change in food. In the middle of the night I needed to access the bathroom. Wearing my flanelette pajamas and bed socks (not much has changed for this lady cause I'm klassy like that) I locked the cubicle door and undertook the business. To finalise the transaction I flushed the toilet.

The water kept rising. I thought about it for a brief moment then recalled the whackyness of Japanese toilets being equal to the general Japanese population..... meaning extremely whacky (1993 whacky).

I tried to unlock the door. It wouldn't budge.

The water kept rising in the bowl.

The 'deposit' rose with the water.

The door wouldn't open.

The water started spilling out from the bowl.

I couldn't get out.

The water gushed onto my bed socks and pants and as I frantically tried to get on my toes and open the door.

Eventually the door unlocked, but it was too late. I was soaked in my own crap.

I can't even talk about what happened next......

Selling myself in 10 words
A bright package of resilence, integrity, fun, honesty and passion.

What I miss
Game of Thrones. I haven't seen one ep of the new season and I feel I may die if I can't see John Snow. Oh baby, yes!

A public apology
I publicly apologise to the Australian people for having to endure another absurd budget tonight.

Ten things that make me really happy
  1. feeling feminine
  2. learning something new
  3. colour, texture and curious things and nicknacks, the way they feel, their smell, the emotion their colour and form brings to a space
  4. seeing people succeed through adversity
  5. karma
  6. dense dried fruit filled sourdough with lashings and lashings of fine quality butter
  7. being able to smile from the inside out
  8. my children's arms around my neck and their soft lips on my cheek
  9. the freedom to be me
  10. being seen for who I am and what I bring to the table

See you in another six days no doubt!
What do you miss?

Blog every day in May: My advice for living your life

If you don't have an acid tongue like Paul Keating, buy the Paul Keating Insult Generator from the App Store. It's sure to give you a few good ideas to silence offensive people.

Speak your truth until someone who understands listens. There is no point speaking to a blank face.

When you get the house to yourself, make an animal noise, like... really loudly. Yes your neighbours will think you've just let your horse out of the float, but it sheds the weight you've been carrying on your shoulders and frees you up to bask in the glory of .... er.... the house to yourself.

Tend to a garden or plants. There is a lot of peace to be enjoyed when you're planting and caring for hope in today and tomorrow.

Look after yourself, because when the chips are down you're the only one you can count on.

Shove your face in a hot towel fresh from the dyer during those endless wet periods. Yes, you might burn your face but it feels sooooo good.

Keep your garage clean and well organised. Who knows when you need to bash the shit out of something with a rubber mallet, but when you do, you don't want to faff about trying to find it.

Lay outside on a clear night and appreciate the stars. They are full of wonder.

Ask for help and reserve any shame you may feel by asking. It is way better than ending up crying on the kitchen floor.

Always have a plan B and plan C even if it makes you feel sick. One day unexpectedly you may have to use it, sort of like an emotional bomb shelter. Be alert but not alarmed.

Listen to the words in songs.

Buy good quality olive oil.

Tell it like it is, 'frank' will be your new best friend.

See people. Take the time to really see them and extend your hand out as far as you can.

Live YOUR life, you only get one shot at it and it's never too late to change your path.

What are your top tips for living your life?

Blog every day in May: catch up V, VI and VII.

I was watching the girls do their physie class today while I was crocheting a granny square. A couple of the mums said I was always doing something creative. I hadn't thought about having such an impression. Busy hands, creating, transforming, renewing and reapplying is something that seems to calm my inner voice and restlessness.

It's funny how life turns out, how doors open and close, or appear when you didn't see them standing their ground all along, waiting for your hand to turn and unlock what's inside.

I once read that being creative keeps your soul nourished. There is a good deal of creating going on around the Fibro Majestic.

Three days have passed by for this blog every day in May challenge. I shall answer the three days prompts in this little post, cause often it's better to turn up than give up.

Although my circumstances have changed the 'what do I do' hasn't.  Being the best mother I can be to my children, ensuring they know and believe they are loved, that they are good and that they have a purpose to contribute to the community with integrity, honesty and dignity. What I do is to try my darnedest to grow emotionally stable, happy and loving kids.

I have lots of other skills to boot with a background in public service. I used to be professionally fabulous and I will be again in my own time. In the mean time I keep my skills up with social media work and creating with Urban Style Hunters. I may venture into more sponsored content to help me ease my worries about money and to reduce the time I need to be away from homework and volunteer work.

What I am currently 'most afraid of' is not having security. I am afraid of what this means. In fact I am mostly petrified. These thoughts are counterbalanced with knowing what's within, what I have achieved and what I have survived.

Speaking of survival, achievements and what's within, I have had the pleasure of getting to know a My Big Nutshell reader, who has just launched her blog Sea Pearlies. In the short time I have spent with Stephanie I have been truly inspired by her grit, intelligence and inclusiveness. Stephanie has many stories not yet published that will bring you to tears, that will also warm your heart when you're feeling alone and kick you up the arse too. She is one strong woman with immense determination, an infectious glow and a mind that you just want to tap into like Dumbledore can!

Stephanie gets my vote for publicly professing my devotion to a blogger. Even when she didn't blog in the formal sense, she was blogging baby!

Do you try to catch up, or wait for a good time.... sort of like when choosing the right moment to
run into the double dutch skipping rope contraption?
Is skipping back in yet?

Blog every day in May: favourite quotes and why

Midnight Oil, Power and the Passion. The lyrics fire me up.
There is always another way than to simply lay down.
I love empowering quotes.

Gandhi could not have put this more perfectly.
Being the change you wish to see in the world is hard and full of error but with strong conviction it is possible.
I love people who talk and have ideas then take steps for change.
I have little time for people who refuse to shift.

The hobbies and interests I have don't always make sense to people.
If I enjoy it, it's perfectly valid in my books.

I believe pictures do come alive. Irene Cara rocks.
My BFF and I do an awesome dance sequence starting in the crouch position to "What a Feeling".

Let your light shine, one firecracker at a time.

This above all.

A universal quote of assertiveness.
As the Lorax says.... "you have been warned". Ha!

What are your favourite quotes?
What emotions do the quotes evoke within you?
